DEPARTMENT OF SENIOR SERVICES – FDL County Courthouse

Benefit Specialist Program – It is a program designed to assist seniors who are 60 years of age or older with any and all types of problems or issues dealing with prescription drugs, Medicare, PartnerCare program, Social Security, supplemental insurance, consumer complaints, food stamp program, housing and others that act as an advocate on their behalf.

Home Delivered Meals
Mobile Meals for homebound seniors – Elderly Nutrition Program – 929-3937

Senior Services Transportation
Escort (Car) – For frail people of all ages. Assist passengers in building and will leave county for medical appointments only. Cost is $2 within city limits and $5 outside FDL County. Must have physician sign authorization for specialized transport. Call one month in advance 929-3110

Handi-van (Lift-Equipped) – For mobility challenged people of all ages. Door to door services. $2.50 charge one way within city limits. $9.00 charge one way, outside city limits. Will not leave county. Call 2 weeks in advance 929-3110.

Elderly (regular sized van) – People 60+. Must be able to step up on van. Curb to curb services. Within City limits only. Donation of $2.50 per way for medical, employment, nutrition rides, personal business, education/training and social or recreational rides. Call 2 weeks advance 929-3936.

Alzheimer’s Support Program
To provide financial assistance to caretakers of individuals who are 60 years of age or older and frail to provide day care or in home care.
Qualification:
Individuals with Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s and other irreversible dementias
Costs depends upon household income and patient expense

Family Caregiver Support Program
To provide information, support and some financial assistance to a family caregiver toward in-home respite care and/or an adult day care facility.
Qualifications:
Family member caring for and residing with individual 60 or older meets “frail”
No cost, participants may donate

SENIOR MOMENT UPDATE


Free Dental Care Event in Wausau- Free dental care days in Wausau June 24 & 25th. Services available first come, first served to adults and children in need. No appointments will be made. Services provided free of charge regardless of income. Dentists and other dental specialists will be volunteering their services over the two day period. Cleanings, fillings, extractions and limited treatment partials will be offered. Located at the Greenheck Field House 6400 Alderson Street in Wausau. Starting from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Voter ID Bill – Gov. Walker signed a bill on Wednesday May 25th that will require voters in the State to show photo ID when they go to the polls. For those that do not have an ID there are options in FDL County to obtain photo identification.
• Department of Motor Vehicles
o Any age, must appear in person
o $28.00 for original or renewals
o Must provide certified copy of birth certificate, passport, expired drivers license, social security card with signature and proof of residency.

Loan Closet (wheelchairs, walkers, bath benches, commodes can be used up to 6 months at no charge). Anyone that has unused items looking to donate can also contact the loan closet. For more information contact them at 929-3085.

Senior Pass
The Senior Pass is a lifetime entrance pass to most national parks, monuments, historic sites, recreation areas, and national wildlife refuges that charge an entrance fee. It also provides a 50% discount of federal use fees charged for facilities and services such as camping, swimming, parking, boat launching and cave tours. There is a one-time $10.00 processing charge and available to persons 62 or older. Contact: Horicon National Wildlife Refuge 920-287-2658.
