SENIOR MOMENT UPDATE

WHEN I’M 65 PRESENTATION TODAY! Today at 1:00 at the Fond du Lac Public Library is the presentation When I’m 65. If you are looking into retiring and would like more information on what is available for insurance and prescription plans please make it a point to attend.

NOTICES SENT BY CMS - New June "Choosers" notice which will be mailed on June 28 to 1.6 million LIS beneficiaries. LIS beneficiaries are people who receive extra help with their Medicare Part D plans by qualifying via income and assets, being on Medicaid, or having the State pay for their Medicare Part B premium. “Choosers” are those individuals who had to choose their own Medicare Part D plan and did not have one automatically assigned to them. This also means that if their Part D plan goes above the LIS benchmark in 2011 they will not “automatically” be assigned a new plan with a $0 premium they will have to choose their own. So, in a nutshell individuals and families that receive a tan notice in the mail regarding their Medicare Part D plans can call Julie Hilbert at 929-3521 for further information.

NEW OPTIONS FOR MEDICARE SUPPLEMENTS – Starting June 1, 2010 Medicare Supplemental insurance policies have added new rider options onto their policies to help to reduce the monthly premium.
¨ Medicare 50% Part A Deductible Rider
This option provides 50% of the Medicare Part A hospital deductible. Thereby reducing the monthly premium.
¨ Medicare Part B copayment/coinsurance Rider
¨ High Deductible Plans

These options are designed to lower monthly premiums but depending on the amount of medical services that an individual may need, it can increase out of pocket expenses.
