Beware of Scam: National Retirement Security Task Force -Yet another scam preying on individual's fears about Social Security, Medicare and the current financial crisis appears to be targeted at seniors. The National Retirement Security Task Force sends personalized letters to individuals which state that, "Social Security is hurtling towards bankruptcy at an alarming rate" and that it is, "absolutely critical that the task force receives immediate financial aid within the next 4 days." The letter solicits a donation of $50 or $100 dollars and includes a "special zip mail return envelope." The letter uses scare tactics and alleges that there is a crisis and that no senior is safe. The reality is that the only threat posed to the individual is the threat of this organization taking your money.

This organization is not registered to solicit contributions in Wisconsin. If you receive a letter from this group you may file a complaint with the Wisconsin Department of Regulation and Licensing (DRL) which regulates charitable solicitation activities in Wisconsin. You may also contact Julie Hilbert, Senior Benefit Specialist for Fond du Lac County at 920-929-3521.
