SENIOR MOMENT UPDATE

Property Tax Deferral Loan Program
Due June 30, 2012 (every June 30th)
They fill out application and are evaluated
Qualifications:
65 years of age or older
Qualifying insured home in Wisconsin and resides there for all of 2010
$20,000 total household income
Outstanding liens, loans and judgments cannot exceed 33% of assessed value
Interest rate changes yearly (2011 4.25% compounded annually)
If approved a check is printed for the applicant and tax authority

STEP PROGRAM – Senior Tax Exchange Program.
Senior Citizens are given the opportunity to apply their earnings toward the payment of their taxes. Qualified individuals 62 years of age or older receiving Social Security and has taxable property within the Fond du Lac Community School District. The compensation is $5.00 (maximum of $430) is distributed annually in the form of a two party check made out to the worker and the appropriate county treasurer. Community Assistance Program – Prescription drug discount card available to the general public regardless of age or income. The card does not expire and it is free to use over and over. It provides discounts of 15 % on brand name and 55% on generic drugs and can be used at all FDL County pharmacies.

Course on Alzheimer’s Basics invites Fond du Lac County residents. The Alzheimer’s Association will present a program called “Memory Loss, Dementia and Alzheimer’s Disease: The Basics” on Tuesday, March 27 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Fond du Lac County ADRC, 50 N. Portland St, Fond du Lac.

This program will provide information that everyone should know about memory loss and how it impacts an individual’s life and family.

Participants will learn about memory loss, dementia and Alzheimer’s disease, as well as risk factors, research, treatments and steps to a proper diagnosis. This program is being offered at no charge and is open to members of the community. Registration is not required.
