Fuel Oil Assistance - Citizens Energy intends to offer assistance to low-income fuel oil customers in the 2009 heating season. Their plan is to start taking applications the week of January 5, 2009. The program will operate until funds are exhausted, and Citizen’s staff believes that will take 8 weeks or less.
The primary way for people to able to apply is to call Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. 1-877-563-4645 (1-877-JOE-4-OIL). People can also apply on the website this year at www.citizensenergy.com. Citizens Energy has an online application tool on their website, but you will not be able to download applications and mail them to Citizens Energy. Senior Services Transportation – Starting January 1, 2009, the elderly walk-on van for people 60 years of age or older will be $2.00 per way and $4.00 round trip. The handi-van lift equipped vans will be $2.50 per way and $5.00 round trip and the escort service that provides transportation to people with limited mobility and ADA certified by physician will be $2.00 per way within FDL County and outside FDL County will be $5.00 each way.
