DRUG DROP – May 15, 2010 – You can bring in your unused or expired medications to these locations Fond du Lac County Fairgrounds Expo Building from 9:30 to 12:30 p.m. Agnesian Campbellsport Clinic 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., Ripon High School 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and Agnesian Pharmacy in Waupun 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

Fond du Lac County Clean Sweep – Friday May 14th 12:00 noon to 4:00 p.m. at the Fond du Lac County Fairgrounds Expo Building. Households do not need to register; however, farms and businesses must register. Items that will be accepted are: Solvents, Pesticides & Herbicides, Rodent baits and poisons, lead/oil based paints and spray paints, oven cleaners, spot removers polishes, aerosols, varnishes, shellacs and wood preservatives.

WHEN I’M 65. On May 19th at the Fond du Lac Senior Center at 2:00 p.m. and again on July 7 at 10:00 a.m. will be Julie Hilbert’s presentation of “When I’m 65”. The presentation will explain what to expect when you retire and are eligible for Medicare. It will explain supplemental vs. Medicare advantage plans and the ever complicated Part D prescription assistance. To reserve your spot please contact Julie at 929-3521.

AETNA Insurance Company – On April 5, 2010 CMS issued a notice to Aetna Insurance company of its intent to impose an intermediate sanction on the company, the sanction will prevent Aetna from marketing to and enrolling new beneficiaries effective April 21st and will remain in effect until Aetna can demonstrate to CMS that it has corrected its deficiencies. If you have any issues or problems with your current Aetna Part D plan please contact Julie at 929-3521.
Health Care Reform and its effect on seniors – One of the biggest changes to Medicare involves the prescription drug program. The “donut hole” will be eliminated by 2020 and starting immediately, consumers who hit the coverage gap will receive a $250.00 rebate check. More details to come regarding this rebate.

Home Repair
The City’s Community Development Department has rehabilitation loans available for homeowners in a limited area that qualify. These loans feature no interest ever, and no monthly payments. They are usually repaid when you decide to move or sell home. Call 322-3445. The Village of North Fond du Lac also has a similar program for residence in the Village of NFDL call 929-3765 and ask for Chris.

Home Rehabilitation Program - To qualify must have one structural, plumbing, heating electrical or accessibility problem and meet the income guidelines (single $32,600 - couple $37,250). Rehabilitation loan that provides no interest and deferred payments until your home is sold or you transfer title.

Weatherization - If you receive Energy Assistance you may also be eligible for weatherization services. Those services include: insulate attic, sidewalls & water heater. Repair or replace furnace and/or refrigerator, reduce air leakage and health and safety inspection. It is not limited to homeowners, if you're a renter or live in a mobile home, duplex or apt. building you may be eligible. Also, if you meet certain income guidelines you also could be eligible for central air-conditioning or wall units. Call: 1-800-323-0150 and ask for Weatherization.
