Be wary of discount health plans – With the cost of health insurance plans going up people look to different ways to save money. Informational flyers, faxes, mass mailings have offers of huge savings. Be aware of ads that offer free for 30 days, a card that will offer you savings on doctors, dentists, pharmacist and hospitals. However when you check the list of providers you may find few if any who actually provide a discount based on the ad or card. Also, the card isn’t really free because you pay a registration fee then after 30 days there are monthly fees ranging from $29.95 to $49.00. If you have questions on these and other “discount” health plans please contact Julie at 929-3521.

HOMESTEAD TAX CREDIT CLINICS – It’s that time of year again, starting on February 1, 2009, senior services will start to assist anyone 60 years of age or older with getting a refund on the rent they pay or the taxes they pay on their house. If you make $24,500 total income per year you may qualify for a credit. Clinic dates and locations will be published in local papers as well as on the KFIZ website or you can call 929-3521 for more information.
