SENIOR MOMENT UPDATE

Medicare Premiums and Deductibles for 2009 – The 2009 Part B premium is $96.40 same as 2008. If you income is greater than $85,000 a year the premium would be $134.90 a month. The deductible for Medicare Part B (medical) is $135.00 the same as 2008. There still remains no monthly premium for Medicare Part A (hospitalization) but the deductible for 2009 is $1068, an increase of $44 from 2008.

· In October of 2008 the Medicare Part D plans will be sending out Marketing Materials to beneficiaries
· Plan - Termination letters if the plan will no exist in 2009
· Plan - Annual Notice of Change – outlining 2009 changes
· CMS will mail Medicare and You 2009 Handbooks
· Employer/Union Plans – Notice of Creditable Coverage

· Open Enrollment for Medicare Part D – to sign up or switch current plan is November 15th through December 31st

If you have the following Medicare Advantage Plan in 2008, they will no longer be available in 2009.
Anthem BC/BS – Smart Value Enhanced and Enhanced Plus
HealthMarkets Care Assured – All Plans
WellCare – All Plans

If you have one of these plans you will need to sign up for another plan for 2009.
